Tips, tricks and ideas.
Make your own in less than "30 Seconds."
- You've seen the eponymously named productt in hardware stores. It kills moss and algae. So it works pretty well for slimy walks and steps. It is nothing more than a mix of full strength household bleach and detergent. You can make your own in less than 30 seconds and save some money. If you don't like the idea of chlorine bleach running off into the groundwater, consider using an oxygen bleach instead. You'll need a little more scrubbing but the results are good. Make sure you rinse, rinse rinse. You don't want to track bleach into your house on your carpet!
Gutter and /roof debris makes great compost.
- If you have a compost pile, you can ask us to add your roof and gutter debris to the pile instead of hauling it away. It is already partially decomposed plant matter.
Ladder safety.
- When on a ladder, even a step ladder, do not let your hips or shoulders move outside of the ladder rails (or on a stepladder, the imaginary vertical plane above them).
- Do not move quickly.
- If it is a little bit too far to reach, don't chance it. Move the ladder. The potential injury is not worth the time saved.
- Remember the old saying, "One hand for yourself,. One hand for the ship." Always have one hand ready to save yourself.
- Dropping a tool or even a can of paint is nothing compared to your health and safety. Your quick reflex to catch it could cause you to lose your balance.
- Get the mud off your shoes and make sure you have excellent traction on the ladder rungs.
